Is there no end to the illogical arguments to be thrown up? I'm sorry, but this is just plain stupid.

Why not change the other aircraft values? Simple - they matter in World War I aerial combat! The structural strength of an aircraft is relevant when it takes damage. The guns on an aircraft are relevant for determining its ability to do damage. The maneuverability of an aircraft is relevant to its ability to get into or out of situations in flight. But, fuel is not normally relevant for tactical combat. Fuel is a game mechanism arbitrarily applied by the author to limit the length of games.

Go read Calir's posts describing how factors other than fuel determined when combats ended. Go read my posts discussing how pilots knew to keep reserves for combat and how minor the fuel used in two or three minutes of combat was compared to the capabilities of even the shortest ranged aircraft. Or, go read the histories of the time period!

And, just to continue on how dumb this suggestion is … there are plenty of issues which could be raised about the values assigned to the aircraft in the game. Wing boxes, as just one example, were computed based on the square footage of the wing. No account was taken of the internal structures, the strength of the wing design, or the manner of bracing. Based on even a cursory examination of the aircraft it is clear that the earlier ones in the game have relatively more wing boxes than they historically deserve, and the later aircraft have fewer. I suggest you not open another can of worms here.

If it doesn't make any sense to you, then go learn about it and it will!
