to mess with the fuel rules will only benefit the German side, which after all was the loser in the war
I don't see how loosing the war, which is more an issue of industry and economics of warfare, has anything to do with individual air combat or with the tactical situations described in this game.
i would rather see the exiting rules for the ammunition and to chose target implemented before any "improvements" to the original system
Maybe the expression "improvement" was used too strongly in this context. It would have been a "house rule" change to the system, in the sense that it added more options while allowing everyone who wished to play with the original ruleset to continue to do so. The addition of an option, rather than the rule change, would have been an improvement.
i dont know about all the stuff that SteveMartin talk about, but i know he is not stupid about that kind of thing even if Headmoid wants to think he is and i looked at some of the information about the planes and what he said seemed pretty reasonable
I am sorry to write so, but SteveMartin's argument in post http://www.youplay.it/play/forum_showmessage.asp?msgid=33194 is not really sound. The logical fallacy lies in the assumption that a longer flight endurance equates to a longer combat endurance. This is the single argument that astonishes me. This is simply untrue. If you do not want to take my word upon it, there are plenty of aircraft design books on commerce and you could go check what I said. Interestingly, though, nobody discussed the merit of this argument, and it has been kept aside.
However, SteveMartin's points about the accuracy of having unlikely combat conditions (Snipe vs. SSD.IV, for instance) should be discussed further.
Headmoid is upset cause his wish for an improved system is not gonna be accepted...well its because most of the players dont see it as an improved system...we would prefer to play with some balance and not German super planes against Allied target kites...if you like that sort of game...then design your own and hope you find someone to play it with you...i will stick to the original
What troubles me again is that HeadMMoid and I (and the others favourable) did not want to compel anyone to play with a different ruleset, we just wanted more options for everyone...
I must admit that I have been very disappointed by this whole thread and the lack of constructive critique to Nick's proposal.
