I'm more like Mark on this: a win is a win.
My proposition doesnt harm this rule: a win will be still a win (notice that even Mark, quoting by you, said that in naval warfare minor differences should be regarded as "draws" or perhaps this is all about "sport" not naval warfare). But is winning 143:139 is really the same as for example 183:45?
Your thoughts to give the winner only the winning difference I believe is pointless.
I disagree. This little modification perhaps will encourage to more "tactical thinking", because if you will force to strike the entire squadron without losing a single ship, you will be rewarded with more points. If you prefer close action resolved mostly by dices (or luck if you want) you can still win according to same rules, but you will gain less points, and since everybody said that statistics are meaningless, this should do any detriment to the winners.
At least the loser can take some satisfaction in whatever achievements they've gained.
I'm talking only about winner satisfaction not loser.
As a practical matter, which is more important, think IIABDFWI---If It Ain't Broke, Dont' Fool (or your favorite epithet here) With It!
Sorry i do not understand.
We just went through one scoring fiasco, and don't need another. Let it be!
I disagree. One failure shouldnt discourage. I think that the best scoring (that reflect also collective efforts) system is in Blue Max: Leagues, maybe something similar for WSIM? I know that webmasters have more impoetant things, its just a long term proposition for "to do" list. |
