Forum Message | | Message text The issue of Surrender
Leave the button there. Serious players will not use it unless something come up in real life and they need to get the games done quickly. All serious players that I have handled on YouPlay will either propose a "timed out" or turn their ships so the opponent can rake them easily.
The less serious players tend to surrender (especially in 1 vs 1 leagues) when the going is against them. Let them do so and suffer under the new rule. The same people will surrender in team vs team league games as well. Nothing anyone can do really.
Then there are these "accidental" players who join the WSIM leagues by mistake. Frequently they are new players to the site and decide to join every single Blue Max league there are but accidentally join the WSIM as well. Since they are no Unjoin button, they are stuck. Let them surrender instead of having the rest of us wait for the automoves.
Testing league scoring in real action Should the other pending leagues get going, just play them like normal so we can see how the scoring works. Should we make public announcements over in the main site about these beta leagues? We may be able to get them going faster. However WSIM leagues could take literally months to finish. I think most of us want to see the changes promote to the main site sooner (days or weeks) unless there are serious issues. You (BlueDragon) and Nick will have to decide whether and when to end these beta leagues once you decide to move the codebase over to the main site.
If we want to do a public annoucements about these beta, who should do it? You (BlueDragon) or me. I think BlueDragon should and give them the password "beta".
