I will look into that
It seems that the code allows reloading Chain shot (if already present) regardless of nationality. So if non-British crew captures a British ship and loads Chainshot, then it will be possible to fire chain shot from that ship forever until the ammo type is changed.
On Chainshot, the rules say simply:
Rule VIII.B.2.d The British may never fire chainshot.
This may interpreted in three ways: 1) a moral imperative: British crew will never fire Chainshot. So, even if they capture a foreign ship, they will not fire Chainshot. On the other hand, foreign crews can board a British ship and fire Chainshot from it. 2) a practical impossibility: British ship do not have Chainshot ammo, so they cannot fire it. British crews that capture foreign ships can fire Chainshot from those ship (they are not morally obliged not to do it or not capable to do it). On the other hand, foreign crews that capture British ship cannot fire Chainshot from them since there is not Chainshot ammo onboard. 3) a combination of the above two: British ship do not have Chainshot ammo and British crew will never fire it anyway (not trained to do so or they do not consider worthy to do it). In this case, British crews will never fire Chainshot. Foreign crews that capture a British ship will not fire it either because they will not find Chainshot ammo onboard.
What do you think it will apply?
Apart from the bug, the current implementation is 1), i.e. it depends on the crew manning the ship, regardless of the original owner. |
