Message text This is what Derek sent me in January of this year, but I thought BlueDragon resolved these:
The main issue is when a losing OBP somehow gets "transferred" to, and capture, a Ship that was vacated by a successful OBP. An example: Ship A grapples or fouls Ship B. Both Ships elect to do OBPs, with Ship A using ALL remaining Crew Sections. Ship A wins the melee and transfers ALL their crew to Ship B. BUT, instead of Ship A's Player now controlling BOTH Ship A and Ship B, the losing OBP from Ship B is mistakenly placed on Ship A; and since Ship A is void of crew, Ship B's Player incorrectly owns Ship A. (This bug happens more often when there are more than 2 Ships involved in a single melee).
Part of the issue seems to be that the code places OBPs on their target Ships in all, or many, cases. This “transfer” should only happen for the winning OBP. I say this, as sometimes I see “prisoners” that end up being placed on ships other than that of their “Ship of Origin.”
The more common version of the bug occurs when two Ships both send an OBP to a single target Ship, and the single Ship OBPs one or both of their opponents. In this case, there exists the possibility that the code is NOT doing the boarding as a single melee, as the rules state. Multiple OBPs coming at a single target are to be treated as one OBP; therefore, even if the target ship sends counter OBPs at each enemy Ship, it is to be fought as one big melee. |
