| Message text Hi all--
I'm in a couple games with Karl and that's the first thing I noticed -- it looks unbalanced. We're early in the games and I thought maybe the wind advantage would play out, but it sounds like several games have proved that's not the case.
BlueDragon: While keeping the rules as close to the board game was always a goal, few of the scenarios are from the game. Arbuthnot, Britannia at Gibraltar, the pirate scenarios -- none of them are from the board game. So I would advise abandoning historical or board game originals for something playable. I'm with Karl -- I can see this quickly degenerating into another 4 vs 3 that no one plays.
I like the wind advantage for the French. How about bigger crews? In a basic game that would give them a decent chance to rush in and grapple while the English are tacking against the wind. |
