Exactly. If that's the case, why does it take until now to let us know? The TCC started in April.

Um, I knew it was summer long ago. As far as vacations though, you are SERIOUS that someone should have notified you in APRIL? That's INSANE. I have NO idea where or when I am going to go that far in advance. That, my friend, is BS, unless you didn't mean what it said of course.

And, he emailed a list of start dates that, because of late signups, is already invalid.

So, you NOW want us to notify you before some start date, that we do not have a schedule for. In order for us or any team to notify the correct people, we would need to know the precise dates. If the next round doesn't start until October, then, no need to try and have you or Mark try and keep track of irrelevant time off (I could keep you busy with updates every few days otherwise). If it is August 4, then, great, now I know if I am going to be out near August 4, I need to let you know. So, YOU have a role in that also. I personally am gone most every other week (Last month, I was gone 3 of 4 weeks, to many different spots as well). And, in half the cases, I have no idea when until the previous week. So, providing that info to US is key to help YOU out. Isn't that reasonable? I say STICK to the schedule, period. Therefore, it doesn't need revising. Once a new one is created of course.

Why? Well, our team still waiting for the FIRST one to start. How can anyone expect Mark to set advance schedules when he's already done so, and been ignored.

Ok, so, if you publish dates and they are hit, then, any team who does not signup loses, I have no problem with that.

Together we will have complete details forwarded to the Team Captains, and probably on the forum as well.

Good, that's what we need.

Just remember please, if you will, that we are trying to improve the ability of the Competition to be more efficient.......

Exactly. But, we also have players who EXPECT many many moves per day. Not everyone can do that. I can make thousands, not a problem for me. I could whine and complain constantly too. There are timezone differences, etc.

Hey, I am sure we all appreciate all the efforts that go into this. I am sure we do not realize the problems you all have. On the other hand, I think you guys don't realize the problems the teams may have. So, that is the point of my posts at least. As long as you specify the rules of signup, etc., and, a list of dates, chisel it in stone and all will be ok.

Is it just me or are people forgetting this is a totally voluntary system with very few people involved? We're lucky to have 8 complete teams, and truly skilled teams are at a premium (no offense to the underdogs). My concern is that by trying to impose a more rigid structure on the people involved, you're going to risk alienating those who don't really have time to play as quickly as you want them to.

My advice is to let the tourney play out as it will. Having been a part of other similar-sized, similiarly focused online communities in the past, my experience is that the harder one tries to control the situation, the more people lose interest. Imposing general guidelines is good as any game needs rules. However, trying to dictate when people should be playing is often perceived as harsh and excessive.
