| Message text Surrendering for the purpose of depriving someone else of points is just childish. It's like taking your cannonball and going home.
For all the newbies who might be wondering what they've gotten themselves into, Chiggy's not telling you one thing: when you surrender, you give up any points you've earned in that game. So you might be hurting yourself more than your opponent. If your game is lost, you could still help your stats by taking a ship or two along with you. So if it matters, it's better to have a loss and some points than a loss and no points. Besides, I hate being skunked, so I'll stick it out just for pride. And, AND... from what I understand, the current stats will go away eventually when the game is updated. It's like knocking the head off your neighbor's snowman.
Chiggy, you surrendered on me too: http://www.youplay.it/beta/play/ws_GameMove.asp?GameID=12540&UserID=Longneck
You have more games than me, so you can hardly accuse me of "jumping" you. Your position was bad, yes, but that's not because I was preying on you -- it's because you let your fleet get too strung out. You win a few, you lose a few. It happens. Live and learn rather than lash out. If you surrendered to hurt me, I didn't even know I was on the list until this thread started, so all it meant to me was that I needed to find another game. And you probably could've still picked up a few points had you stuck it out.
You're also assuming that every person who signs up is a babe in the woods. I would suspect that most of us played the board game, so that newbie we're all salivating over could be a sea wolf. |
