Wow, this is a thread in Chiggy tradition:
he ALWAYs brings up stats. He is so obsessed with them, even though he should know by now that the stats won't survive the relaunch of the game.
Chiggy, have you ever looked at these stats? If so, do you understand stats? These stats are severly flawed. They way they are calculated, they don't represent anything.
Why is that? Because multiplayer games and one on one games are thrown into one pot.
I suppose, Sfatula is right: the only one being obsessed with them is Mr. Chiggy.
I like to play with newbies. Meeting new people can be fun. If they interact via the chatbox, I help them through the game. That's what every player who knows the rules and the game should do.
Chiggy has one point right, though: it screws up your average tonnage if a player surrenders. But does anybody really care about this. Anybody but Chiggy, I mean?
Wow this is the most ignorant post I have seen yet, if I was so concerned with stats I would NEVER EVER post a game and would always troll like the SWs and wait for the noobs to post games.
As for experiance, yeah I have a few games in and I am exposing a tactic that people use to buffer their stats and run new players off in the process.
Works the same in all online games, the elite trash the new players and thump their chest when they dont get their chance to trash others.
I just want the new players to know they do not have to play the game and take the beatings so that a few can stat points.
As for the stats, I would agree that placing multiplayer games in the stats for single player is a problem, and that frankly you would be better off using chess ratings to decide things so that players who were on the same level would play more often and those who wanted mismatches would gain little for their efforts. As it stands now the system rewards the expert player who is willing to sit back and wait for the noob to post a game and then trash him totally. The rookie player then has a choice, he can take the beatings from very good players or not post a game and hope he catches another new player posting a game.
Chess ratings would stop this as it would game players less points for beating someone who was alot weaker.
Until an alternate system of scoring is given the new player has few options to avoid the sharks.
And this is why I ALWAYS see locked games waiting and hardly ever see open games!
Let's face it, Chigger... you are just a shark wannabe!
We were all newbies, at one time, and Scotireb whacked me a new one my first game. I learned, with his and other's help, like a MAN.
Your facade has been exposed, and you sir, are a whiner, and a jerk. I've known sharks, but you sir, do not deserve the title. Maybe a catfish... you know, a bottom feeder!
