I know it's been a huge amount of work, and technically its very clever, but does anyone else just prefer the 'old' version? (I really am very sorry...)
The blue hex map, the beautiful artwork on the planes and the incredible simplicity for what made a very good game. It looks like Blue Max, it plays like Blue Max, it feels like Blue Max.
I bought my first edition copy some 40+ years ago. I still haven't punched my copy of the 2013 reworking.
I think I'll just have to call the new version by another name. I'm sure it'll be a great game, but with so many changes, I prefer my Blue Max as Blue Max. I do, sometimes.
So, I think what I need to do is in classic BM games (without Altitude), try to replicate the simplicity of what we have here. Thats what 2D view approximates. Give me some time. At some point, this site must go away. It's the way of things.
It doesn't mean the new site has to stomp all over it though. Altitude! rules require 3D, so much time was spent on that. I did try to make a 'classic' version of Cartegena, and I'm happy to do that for BlueMax.
I want to remind everyone, I'm doing this for you, the players. If something doesn't 'float your boat' or 'put the wind under your wings', tell me what it is and what you'd like to see instead.
