I agree, it makes no sense to allow anchoring in the currently available scenarios. Other than temporarily, as a means to getting used to how it works and fix bugs. I don't mind it so much, so far, however, it just means that suddenly all scenarios take place in shallow waters. As a fix, perhaps one could have an option, anchoring allowed or not allowed, for each scenario?
Personally, the most annoying thing about anchoring right now is that the non-anchored turning restrictions still apply, so you cannot turn a first rate 120 degrees by springs, and you may not be allowed to turn a dismasted ship by springs at all.
And the drifting. If ever there are scenarios with land, drifting ashore means your ship is eliminated, so anchoring needs to stop your ship from drifting.
I don't know ship, but I know physics. Actually for the anchoring, in strong current and full speed, it would only slow down the ship and can't do strategic manuver like stalling move in youplay. I know my comment may sound boring. But we are simulate real sea battle but not movie's CGI.
Just my 2 cents. . |
