Here's some whining about the plane characteristics...

Wow!
I'm not the right person to answer you, but we had here around the Blue Max author for a while.
He used to log in as Sundown or as phil hall

You can try to filter the forum for both these username to find some answers.

For example this is one of his messages about the Pfalz D.III
http://www.youplay.it/play/forum_showmessage.asp?msgid=9866

Anyway, this is a really good topic. I'm happy to see it here.

Take care
Fourth

Okay thanks... I will look those things.

I forgot to mention that the other book also says that Bristol should be faster but it's ofcourse hard to compare those planes 'cos Bristol's highest speed (slightly over 190km/h) was measured at 2000 meters and Albatros DVa's speed (slightly over 180km/h) at 1000 meters.

One funny thing was also that Nieuport 17's speed is more or equal (depending on different sources) to the Pfalz D.XII but still Nieuport is slower than Pfalz in the game. It could be very hard to make any accurate conclusions depending on those statistics. The question is what is the practical speed of those planes or any plane in the game...? Engines were usually upgraded with some models and they usually performed better, so you have to think that if some model is performing worse could it be that the characteristics are made from some older model with old and inferior engine? For example SE 5A characteristics in Blue Max indicates it's the latter version of the plane with more powerful engine.
