Message text In any case, maybe we shouldn't file this as a bug, but as a rules problem. I'm playing several games now where the two or three remaining ships are dancing just out of range from one another. Everyone wants to get close enough to shoot, but each of the ships has only a few rigging or hull squares left. Whoever turns to move closer will immediately get raked at range 10 and almost certainly be sunk, and so no one is able to risk an approach.
In situations like these, both sides could resign (once that option is built into the game), but it also makes sense to reduce or eliminate the rake bonus at long ranges in order to encourage people to get close enough to take a shot. I suppose that waiting for map boundaries finally to be built into the game is the other solution for these never-ending games, but I'm still a not a fan of absurdly long-range rake shots. |
