We imply that now by allowing transfers between adjacent friendly ships that aren't grappled or fouled, but you CANNOT TBP to an abandoned "friendly" ship without grappling/fouling. That's inconsistent.
The inconsistency is because I have no time to code at the moment, so I couldn't finish the changes to grapple/fould system. According to the rules, there's no need to grapple/foul your friendly crewless ships to transfer to them. So no inconsistency there.
For not having much time, you're doing a better job of keeping up than I am!
But by "according to the rules" do you mean the boardgame rules, or youplay? I assume you mean the boardgame rules. If so, you're right, there's no inconsistency, but we don't allow that. On the site, you do have to grapple/foul to transfer to a friendly crewless ship. I can accept your "WSIM world" argument. I've told several people on the forum "that's just the way it is -- play to the rules".
That said, my logic goes like this: I assume the boardgame allows transfers between friendly adjacent ships because both ships are cooperating. Guys on the receiving ship are helping their mates aboard, etc. I don't know, just my guess. That won't happen on a crewless ship, so I have no problem with requiring grappling/fouling. It's just that an enemy shouldn't have an advantage by being able to OBP just because they didn't previously control the ship when a friendly ship has to TBP.
For me, this is a major reason I almost never grapple. If I do win, the ship my guys came from is free for the taking and, unless they're already grappled/fouled, I have to do that first to regain control, which could take several turns.
So I'll make one last argument that we should either: 1) allow a transfer to friendly crewless ships without grappling/fouling, or 2) allow an OBP if grappling/fouling is necessary.
"No" is OK, just my take on it. |
