| Message text A friend and I just finished three games of Ambuscade vs Baionaise. In about 20 turns in which both vessels fired, the dice rolls for Baionaise were above those for Ambuscade in all but two turns (one of these was a tie, and in the other Baionaise rolled higher).
What are the odds of that happening? (Pretty poor ... for those who need an answer.)
It looks to me as though there is a problem with the way the way the dice are being rolled. I have been told that this issue has been raised in the past, but apparently it did not receive adequate attention. I normally wouldn't mention something like this, but I also noticed in some recent Blue Max one-on-one games, that, when two aircraft both fired, the first player to get a die rolled had a worse roll more than 70% of the time. It seems that much of the time, the later a die is rolled for a player, the better the odds of the roll being above an earlier roll.
Has anything been done to verify the use of the random rolls in the code (and I don't mean "The Big Plane Race", since that really doesn't prove anything with regard to this question)? |
