Fleeing off sides or the enemy edge does affect your league standing in a couple of ways.
1. They aren't counted as honorable exits, and affects the rating on the final level of victory for their side and their league points are reduced. Not sure on the details on this.
2. Their standard score is halved for the game which reduces their rank relative to other players in case of a tie in league points.
