isn't the system forgetting to account for losses on the winner's side? According to my reckons, two pilots were shot down and should be awarded one less point.

It looks correct to me.
Blackstar got 2 points for winning but lost 1 for being shot down and deneb got 2 for winning, 2 more for 2 kills, 1 more for best pilot and lost 1 for being shot down. The other 2 planes retired.
