Loosing the tail and fired at last turn bonuses?

This has happen to me a few times now.

0 space firing is always a bit tricky. Tailing and firing isn't what determines who fires. The only thing that matters is speed and facing. Both planes have to have same facing or there is no shot. Only the slowest plane can fire. So if plane A is flying faster and overtakes plane B, then plane B will get the shot.
