For Qualifying one plays mirrored games for the most part, identical 1, 2, or 3 Ship groups. Usually all are SOLs or all are Frigates, but there are some mixed groupings if both players are adventurous.
For the Semis and Final, the GM comes up with different 2, 3, or 4 Ship hypothetical groupings.
On the final day, the GM has a "Fleet Action" which is a historical scenario and you get to control a few Ships and deal with limited group communication. Quite fun!
