OK new idea

take away the total value of dice you roll - not add them, someone rolling high (being lucky)already kills people, which should be enough of an advantage, they would get bigger negatives than someone rolling all low values (being unlucky) - who would not get big negatives.

I already know what my dice scores are likely to be before I fire:

If I have a points score of 4 or less then I will get more 5 & 6 on the dice roll

If I have a points score of 5 then I get a random average dice score

If I have a points score of 6 - 9 then I get more 1 & 2 on the dice roll

If I have a points score of 10 or greater then I will get a 1 six out of seven times on the dice

Therefore on average it will appear that I get a random dice score when in actuality it is points related.

This means that an enemy who stalls in front of me will nearly always get a better damager result because I will nearly always throw a 1 with the next likely result being a 2 - and only very, very rarely a higher score.
