| Message text Agreed on all points. With Advanced rules this scenario breaks down into a drifting slugfest because those huge broadsides wipe out a rigging section early so no one can use full sails. After that it's boring.
Also, doesn't the wind start in a gale? That reduces the movement allowance for SOLs by 1 in attitude A, so they have to use full sails to get anywhere or sidestep (my term for right-straight-right or left-straight-left) which doubles the rigging hits. All the maneuvering that made this scenario so great with Basic rules is gone in a few turns. Maybe if the ship sizes are reduced as Derek suggests that will help, but I would reduce the initial wind speed also. I know we try to keep the scenarios as they are in the rule book, but I don't think it works for this one. |
