DerekticusThanks, I think I see what you're talking about. It says "If the closest ship happens to be a friendly or surrendered ship, the field of fire is blocked..." I guess that is confusing because my intention was to only include ships that had surrendered through other means, like loss of crew, guns or rigging. A struck ship IS a surrendered ship, but does not block the field of fire. I'll get with Alex about that.
