The ship which enters the hex first in the move stays there. If both ships enter a hex same time, the larger ship wins. Correct it's TONS with an exception. If one ships wants to enter while moving straight has the precedence over one that wants to enter making a turn (with her stern). ciao Ale Ah! That was new to me. That's why you always won. Micha damn i wish i had know that before making one of my last moves frankly i think it should have been based on ship's speed...the ship that enters the hex first is the one that is going to stay there...probably fouled...but he will be there I would suggest that since the movement point comparison in the original rules is based on movement points expended, it should go to the ship with more movement in the current turn, since that ship would have arrived in the hex first. Barring that, and assuming that one wishes to avoid a random roll (not necessaryily a defensible position), the tonnage is as reasonable a factor as any, since at the low speeds (3 to 5 knots) under fighting sail, it would probably be the mass of the ship which ruled the encounter. We might also remember that, based on a previous discussion, the back half of a ship counter shouldn't be a factor in determining an encounter, since the probable size of a ship limits it to a single hex. |
