Yeah, yeah, we know... you guys want to get this thing rolling. So do we! Patience brings good things, however, so Tuesday is the Kick-Off day!
Johnny
As much as we tried to stay away from the football theme used for the Wooden Ships World Cup, Johnny loves football so much he has to talk about the "Kick-Off".
Good luck, all. See you on the pitch.
Thanks, Mark; football could also be SOCCER, right?, such as the WORLD CUP, might I also add. AHhhhh, the slings and arrows.....
There, that needed sayin'... feels good to let that out!

Team
Armada Geddon is ready for the ceremonial un-furling of the sails!!

I humbly suggest we begin with the following game numbers so each team can concentrate on one game at a time; at least at the beginning until we get forced into doubling up as certain games will no doubt end earlier than others:
Game 1; Game 9; Game 13; and Game 19.
To the North Atlantic Warriors, be forewarned; Sfatulateam will command the Frigates, Flashrock will be on the bridge of the Flag, and I, derekticus, will be leading the van to GLORY.
Opening day will begin our glorious voyage to the Trident Wizards Cup!!!!
Man the jib, we're comin' about!!!
Hey, Mark! I know you think I planned it this way, but Baseball Season starts today!! I wonder if the Trident Cup playoffs will be over by the end of the World Series....
So, the Amanda's and the Wah-Wah's take on each other on opening day...that'll be interesting. The Internation League appears to be the stronger of the two leagues, on paper, with your two teams arguably the strongest. I wouldn't sell out the Kitties of the Privies, however, as all the teams in your League have strong players.
I don't know what to make of our American League, with our Rummies...too many unknown factors. I'm particularly worried about Mac's team, as they have very experienced players, and Huckleberry in particular is a cagey gamer.
The length of the Season will be the Great Equalizer. As they say in football: "On any given Sunday....". There is no such thing as a sure game, or a sure team, and certainly for a sure player.
The good Lord (and Allah) knows there's no one here without any defeats. So, Gentlemen, have fun starting tomorrow (there are no women, I presume). Remember, it's going to be a long slog, so don't lose your perspective---it's a GAME. And, don't lose heart---if you find yourself in a losing season, learn from everyone you play with, and against. You only get better from experience. That, plus should you decide you no longer wish to participate, at least please contact your Captain to allow a chance to replace you. There are volunteers. Don't suddenly just "quit" playing, as you hurt everyone involved in the tournament.
But, who could possibly want to quit such a marvelous spectacle as 24 grown men playing with make believe ships on a non-existant body of water? Not me!!!!
