Not really, the system could be made to update the planes and players' ratings with regards to their performance.

But who is setting the metrics for a players' ratings and how it translates into ranks, as well as for the planes? That is the subjective system that someone would need to develop.

The planes in a scenario might be simple enough using the +/- shot down differential. But what about for pilot rankings? Based on kill ratio? Win/loss record? Average or total points? How do you balance the three so that the ranking system doesn't get to be a metagame?
