In game 437970 I captured the Spartiate. There was my prize crew of 4, and 3 prisoners on-board.
I elected to transfer my prize crew off of the Spartiate. When the transfer occured, the message set declared, "The prisoners are free" and that I owned the ship, instead of my opponent.
This was around turn 35-36.
The ship should have re-verted to my opponent's control.

I think this was around during testing time as well. It might have been fixed at one time or another but I am not sure.

Unlike Orgebait2 I'll keep playing Basic Rules because this defection will only occur under certain situation which you may be able to avoid if play accordingly.

Maybe Ogre and derek are just very persuasive, charismatic leaders of men.

Thanks, Bill!
But it is a killer bug, as either you or your opponnent can build their crew strength. I also had a situation where I lost a ship to boarding, and then took it back through melee, only to find that my original crew (who had been imprisoned) remained as MY prisoners!!! Suddenly I was seriously short of crew BUT was reluctant to abandon ship on the off chance that suddenly this large prisoner base would suddenly become crew under my opponnent's command!

The feature that keeps me playing Basic Rules is the Drift - I do not like the way you can just camp out under the "Simplified Rules".
It adds a lot more interest, especially to scenarios like "Havana" where ships can easily become riggingless hulks in a hurry.
