No, if two pilots of the same side score about the same points, the best pilot award in not given. I saw that to get the best pilot award you must score about 10 points or 10% of point more that the second scoring pilot of your side.
This would be helpful if noted next to the Best Team player row of the Victory type point chart on the League Rules page.
