Message text "Asterix & Obelix" comics are really famous in France...and Belgium 
What I like is that they always fight against themselves for stupid reasons, for exemple because the fish sold by the fish merchant of the village is not fresh. And while all the villagers argue and fight, the roman legionaries observe them far away from the village, being very happy not to be the frightening gallic targets that time.
They always eat entire boars, drink the secret strengh elixir made by Panoramix the druid to "play with" the romans, and they finish the days makings big dinners in the center of the village, all happy to live together against adversity.
The oldest man (at least 70 I guess) in the village is married with the splendid 20 years old Falballa  , the bard sings like a saucepan  , and the most intelligent creature in the village is...Obelix dog, Idefix. Maybe that's why we have so many pets in France... 
In fact, I think the success in France comes from the fact that these sympatical  but a bit noisy  and quarrelsome  gallics look like...french people...
