I suspect, as pointed out by one of the players in comments ingame, you retired via automove. It happened in both games on the same turn 2, so that's the most likely explanation I can offer without having been in the game myself to witness it firsthand.
I have seen that sort of thing happen a number of times before.
Once automove kicks in, you are in real trouble if the other players are quick to turn in their moves.
