In my experience, and it's a looong one, set it medium and keep it that way. It's the other way round: the poor bonus you get with longs isn't absolutely worth the pain-in-the ass of running around doing S's (and being a sitting duck meanwhile).
The only cases worth a long are life-or-death ones (your or your target's). E.g. an head-on when you are likely to die, or a coup-de-grace at an almost down foe. It happens once or twice per league, if any.  |
