the fact is that with some strong planes in a 8x8 field players try to win stalling or risking too much and. ..as the field is small they manage to get out even if you shhot them 4 times with a 1 gun plane.
i often play the weaker side bur rhis way it's almost impossible even if you compell the other to retire

Yes, I've seen players, particularly in 1 vs 1, fly evasively after taking a point lead, or even fly off the board with most of the fuel.
Actually, retiring with honor is defined as either out of fuel of no longer having any engines.
In any case, I simply almost never play in fields smaller than 12x10, so that eliminates some, but all, of those problems.
The bottom line is, if you don't like a particular scenario, for whatever reason, don't sign up for it. If you don't see any you like, create some of your own, and you'll draw folks who like such, or don't really care about the settings.
