Last century, we used to play Ultima Online a lot. Then we found something called Greyworld, a UO emulator (which has since gone through many upgrades, transitions, etc. and is now called RunUO) that allowed us to host, create, and modify our own version of UO.
I started hosting a free UO shard (its still up, http://www.oblivion2.com but not nearly as many people as in our heyday (Pre-WoW)).
As an Admin, I had all these cool tools to do things that you couldn't do as a player. I started messing around with some color's that were'nt available to players. I ended up with a suit of bone armor, in a color shade that made it look Electric blue. I colored everything that color, including my weapons.
So, I appeared amongst a bunch of players (with Invulnerablility set to ON) shouting "I AM ELECTRO! KNEEL BEFORE ME OR DIE! ELECTRO HAS COME!" It took off from there and I'd drop Electo-dragons, Electro-Ale (-50 to IQ, +50 Str), etc.
And thus the legend was born. |
