it seems to me that adding on all of these extra rules and options to the classic game of Blue Max is rather like rewriting the final chapter of a great novel to a more palatable ending We think alike M'lady! . 
The novel can still end the way you want it to. Just don't read the revised version. But, if the hosts of this game don't want new ideas, then lets remove the [IDEAS] category.
Adding a optional feature to a game doesn't destroy the original game, it just offers other ways to play. Why re-invent a good game from scratch?
What I hear is, "If you don't like what I like, then go away." The arguement against it appears to be, its new, so it's a bad idea.
