Message text I'd think it's fairly common sense, that given the technology of that time, communication between team members should not be happening during a game.
On rare occasion, I've seen folks do so using the ingame chat, usually, others are quick to complain or flame them for such.
As there is no way to police the use of email or non-game chat between players during a game, not doing so is strictly on the honor system.
