Hello; I may give Blue Max a try although it looks like it may have a bit of a steep learning curve.
Blue Max has the smoothest learning curve I've ever seen.
Join a few games with maybe 2 or 3 planes per side (4,5 or 6 in total) and you should get an easy introduction into Blue Max.
1 vs 1 games can be a bit tough for a new player (in my opinion) but any games with lots of players take a while for everyone to move, so if you want to get a few games under your belt quickly then small ish numbers of players, should let you get through the learning curve with a low amount of pain.
