Message text For Advanced games, the scenario determines the initial wind velocity, so for our own scenarios it can be set to whatever the designer (or the house) wants. I would suggest normal breeze. For scenarios from the rule book, just use whatever it says. Most are normal breeze, although I saw a couple gales (including Arbuthnot).
From there, I think I'd let it go as usual. It takes several wind changes (which are only every third turn) to get up to a storm or gale. So in general, it would be unlikely (but not impossible) for a game to quickly go there.
I agree that starting in wind that's too strong or too light is no good.
BlueDragon: Each scenario has a different wind change number which makes is harder or easier for the wind to change direction. Is that factored in, or all they all the same? I'm OK with it if they're all the same. |
