I'd like to propose that drifting still occur last in the movement phase. After playing with it as it is now, it doesn't work well. You really have to plan two turns in advance... say you pull up beside a struck ship. Not only do you have to see if it's drifting this turn, but next turn as well AND you have to get out of its way. That goes against the spirit (and rule) of a drifting ship being something that you can see coming from a mile away. Drifting is already not real popular and if we make it harder to play with, I fear fewer people will accept the new rules. I love drifting, but having it occur during regular movement just doesn't work well for me. Any thoughts?

Please make drifting the last in the movement phase. I doubt it is that hard to fix in BlueDragon rewritten code, I hope anyway.

I second that. Technically, it doesn't matter if drifting occurs at the beginning of the turn or at the end of the turn. Both ways, ships will be blocked. However, it seems to be easier to plan ahead if drifting occurs as suggested by dcr and Longneck. In a way, it seems to make more sense.

I don't know if drifting is popular or not. I love it. It adds a lot to the game. Whoever doesn't like it can play simplified. One day in the future we may be able to check which rules to apply when opening a game. Like drifting yes, boarding no, etc.

The game came a long way. A little while ago I was disappointed by all the bugs and inconsistencies. Now, I am awed!

keep it up!
