As to league play on the main site. I've played Blue Max leagues and they do not allow for teams to stick together. They play like, and were the insperation for, a few tournaments I ran a year ago. Each player plays a bunch of games using different ships and different team mates from the chosen scenario. Some of you might be disappointed in the team mate thing.
The closest thing to team in Blue Max is squadron. There are a fair amount of those in the main site. Whenever there are squadron match ups; somebody has to create the password games manually.  The league system is entirely different.
Maybe Johnny can have a chat with Nick and Alex to see whether an alternate system can be put in place.

I had no idea that the possibilities of League play could be so different. The idea of not being able to maintain a team is anethema to me, and is un-American!  Naturally, my concept is similar to any other sporting or gaming activity.
Thanks for the info on the BM leagues, Mark and Hubert. I think I will enter into conversation with Nick about this. I'm assuming of course that the majority of participants in the TCC favor the integral Team concept.
I hope its not too late, but we haven't seen the Basic entered into the main site yet, so there were probably a few last minute burps. I'll keep in touch with my findings. Later.
From my understanding based on the google group postings; Nick is doing some serious debugging with regard to various Boarding Parties issues of late. You definitely have some time before they can push WSIM to the main site. Maybe Nick can have 2 league variations, one just like Blue Max and another one as team play.
The squadron thing in Blue Max was started and maintained by Lord_Locquax. The site for the squadron management is: http://www.chimpage.com/bluemax/squadrons.html
None of the YouPlayIt webmasters has any control at these Blue Max squadrons. I can imagine you (Johnny) organise some kind of Fleets as the equivalent to squadrons. Maybe somebody can get a site for these WSIM Fleets as well. Just like the Blue Max squadrons, the fleets should contain permanent players instead of last minute recruitments as in TCC.
That's why I don't like the BM-leagues: It's about yourself and not the team.
A suggestion how to start team competition: You enter teams in a database. When a game opens and the participating teams are entered into the challenge field, the players of these teams get challenge notifications and can only sign up for their side.
All it needs is a database where RUM RUNNERS equals PBASS111, Longneck and michzeidler.
This way, we are still a step away from a league system but at least we can play as teams without going through the hassle of emailing people in advance, making sure everybody is online to catch the games, pondering over passwords, etc.
