That is of course your choice. I disagree with your reasoning (when applied to me). For me, it is useful. That's all I was trying to communicate. It may not be to you, that's ok of course, and I don't want to state you are wrong. You are right, for you. My explanation was simplistic and only meant to say there are reasons. I did not wish to write a book as to all the reasons. And it wouldn't matter, as applied to you, they may not mean anything. If you don't like them or need them, don't look at them. I agree with you, I have not joined a game on purpose because the player was new and stats are the only way to know that. So 99% of my games I start and wait for others to play me instead. I love the stats and wish there were much more comprehensive! besides being a lawyer I am also a cpa and have always loved stats! Give me more! And if anybody looks at my stats it will be discovered that the data is not very flattering so I do not want them for merely conceit purposes. And the stats do help evaluate possible opponents. Check out Resisti- he loves to play new players to pad his wins. I was his victim for three games when I first started. I thought I would be good right away based on the few times I played the board game in the 1980's. Alas, i am still tring to get good. Those who do like the stats need not worry about them. We do need more stats! But stats or not, I would still play this game as i find it an enjoyable mind-provoking enterprise. Great time waster too! One more thing: I created some games today and was challenged by quite a few new players. So either they do not look at stats, or do, and just consider my record worth the challenge! Little do they know that I am like 10-120 against six players.
Stats are OK, and they have their uses. Resetting is fine, but I'll probably start with a new ID, unknown except for my frequent playing friends.
I certainly hope there are provisions for team leagues, as that will be much more fun and meaningful than just for individual players. Sort of like what Sir Lindsley did with his world cup, only with teams. That would make it similar to a real sporting team. Seasons, playoffs, etc.
And besides, I hate playing single games. I get no energy from myself, and enjoy the interaction between players. Some folks ONLY play singly, and gain high stats that way. If you want a truly random mix, jump into a multi-player scenario, where you don't know most of the players. I find that to be more challenging, and also more aggrevating. Many don't fit into team play, being much more into their own stats just for the sake of their stats. In team play I've learned just who some of the frequent perps are, staying alone and picking up crumbs, those that will butt in your way simply to get a shot in, and the quitters. I wonder why these guys even worry about their stats if they do, but that may be their problem.
Anyway, I just hate playing one on one. Those players who have achieved their statistics, by playing in multi-player games more often, simply have more of my respect for their achievments. Rejoice jointly in the Victory, and share the agony of da feet (ooops...Defeat. I can't stay serious for too long!)! |
