Not too sure why "fouling" seems so broken. I admit its been about a decade since I last played WSIM but I've been playing about 8 or 9 games simultaneously and have found that there are two problems with fouling.

1) Its FAR too easy. That was never really a problem in the miniatures version of the game, but in this format, especially wanting to have a diverse community trying to enjoy themselves, fouling should only happen in drift or as a deliberate action to foul yourself with your ship or an enemy ship.

2) There should be a automatic default of "no fouling" pre-selected and then if you wish to change that do so. In there current fashion, especially in a big multi-ship game I need to go through and select a fouling option just to make sure the game does not suck.

Not good.

3) I have seen fouling deselect from what I wanted back to "enemy" from "friendly" with never changing it.

That was a surprise as my entire line of battle...or crack and elite crews suddenly stopped sailing...

Just my $.02 on the matter. One is an actual script problem and the other...well, its for playability and I think most will agree.
