Moving the mouse cursor over that icon, will show an hovering box containing the user information.
To close that box, move your mouse pointer over the "close" text, on the top right of the box itself.

Wow, very nice!!!
However, could you put the close button on the bottom left? Because when you open the box, the mouse is in the upper left, so it's easier to drag it down to close...especially if you've opened the box by mistake.
Or you could make that the box disappears when you stop hovering over the ? button.
