Just a thought - did you set your guns to reload on one side or the other at some point in the game then forget to reset to 'load any side'?

Sometimes I occasionally forget to set the correct broadside to load - note the game doesn't ask which one you want to fire - it will (should) fire off either or both loaded broadsides automatically if there is a target within range and no nearer friendly (assuming you haven't told it only to fire if the Hdt reaches a particular number). The targetting code I assume is quite complex, as sometimes there are more than one eligible target to fire at. All the game wants to know from you is which broadside to load.
The problem I have raised is where the correct broadside has been loaded, there are no other reasons within the game rules for the broadside not to be fired, but it doesn't.
It must be a bug. As micha sayes though, this is a beta version, and despite this still a very good one.
