In this game, Gibralter looped around to make a shot that was KEY to this game. I believe it was the initial broadside, meaning, it could have sunk the Formidable. Sinking that ship would have meant a TREMENDOUS difference in this game. While it's one shot, it was THE key shot for my side. The guns are loaded, always have been loaded. No reason, Formidable is in fact the closest ship (though it is a tie).
I would ask for this game to be closed as I do not wish to play given this one key shot. Any other time in the game, perhaps it would be ok, but, it a close well fought match, it cannot be tolerated.
So, please end that game. I do not wish to surrender and penalize the opponent, or cause it to give me a loss. Only fair thing is to terminate the game.
Having played quite a few games, I am perplexed as to why this might have happpened.
According to the rules:
4. A ship may fire at a single enemy ship in a broadside’s field of fire subject to two conditions: a. The ship being fired upon must be the closest in number of hexes to the firing ship of all ships in the field of fire; (IT IS) b. If the “closest ship” happens to be a land hex, friendly ship, surrendered or captured ship, or a hulk, the field of fire is blocked and the ship may not fire that broadside in that turn. (IT IS NOT) 5. If there is more than one ship or obstacle which qualifies as “closest ship,” the attacker may choose which is closest and fire at that ship. (I WOULD HAVE PICKED HIS SHIP, NOT MINE)
Suspect a bug in the targeting logic. It likely picked the "best" shot first, meaning, my ship, THEN checked for whose side it is on, then decided not to fire.
I had a similar situation in game 8863 where the game didn't give me an initial broadside modifier. To date I haven't heard any comment back from the gamemasters. |
