| Message text I've posted about this before. The rules say the attacker can choose if two ships are equally close. As it is he chooses the worse shot.
Hmmm - if you set your HDT then this makes it possible to actually choose - it fires at the worst shot you have said was acceptable - if you wanted the rake you should set at a higher HDT to avoid shooting the other ship.
I still think the best shot should be taken though.
