mjk, usual tournaments rules we adopt on youplay allow exit (from your side only of course) only if very low on fuel and/or badly damaged. In all other situation you are considered as shoot down.
More specifically, you can exit only from your side of the map (left for allied and right for Germans) and if
a) with 3 or less points of fuel or b) with more then 50% of your total plane hit points damaged or c) with more then 75% of hit points in a single category (fuselage or wings or engine or tail) damaged. or d) with engine destroyed or e) with all of your guns destroyed
In another tournament variant even exiting under conditions from b) to e) cost you a half shot down
But most important of all , as I told you before, to do something serious you should play advanced matches, not standard ones.
