Hi Sir Frances, I do not think what you say is incendiary at all. I think a good system is to make more then one game of the same scenario and take a different plane in each. That is what I try to do. Though I do not always follow that method!
There are a few planes I avoid if at all possible. The Camel and N17 are deathtraps in certain scenarios. Also, strangely, I do not often fly either the Snipe or Siemens. Too many maneuver options for my slow brain! 
Personally, I do not have a problem with players who almost always take superior planes. Afterall, no one makes us play a scenario. Just my humble opinion.
